What is mChat?
mChat is a free Facebook chat app for mobile. It’s a better way to talk with friends on Facebook, whether they’re using Facebook chat, or mChat for iPhone and Blackberry. Login with Facebook connect and talk to all your contacts within seconds! mChat makes it easy to chat socially or for work when you’re on the go. It’s completely free to download… and no ugly ads! How does mChat work?
mChat runs on Facebook chat, so you can chat live with your friends whenever they are logged in to Facebook or mChat on their mobile.
You don’t need to worry about adding contacts, PINs or usernames because it simply accesses your Facebook friends and lets you chat with them.
If mChat is open on your smartphone, it will keep you logged into Facebook chat so your contacts can send you messages anytime.
Why aren't my offline friends loading?
To keep mChat running smoothly and at a good speed, it won’t load your offline friends if you have more than 150 friends on Facebook.
However, if you do have over 150 friends and a friend comes online and then goes offline again, they will show up as an offline friend and remain there (until you next log out of the app).
How do I stop certain people contacting me on mChat, or how do I appear offline to certain groups of people?
mChat uses Facebook chat, so you have to go into your Facebook account and go offline for a specific “Friend List” if you don’t want certain people to be able to contact you on mChat. Once you go offline for that Friend List on Facebook, those people won’t be able to message you on mChat (until you go online again for that list on Facebook).
To create a Friend List, log into your Facebook account and click on “Chat” in the bottom tool-bar. Then click on “Friend Lists” and you can create a new Friend List at the bottom of that drop-down menu by typing a name for your list and pressing enter.
Alternatively, you can edit any existing Friend Lists you have by moving the mouse over the names of your lists in the chat box and clicking on “edit” when it appears.
You can then go offline for any Friend List by clicking on the little green slide bar next to the name of that list. Once you are offline for that Friend List, people in that list will not be able to send you messages on mChat.
You can also create and edit Friend Lists if you click on “Account” at the top of your Facebook profile and then “Edit Friends.”
Does it cost anything?
No. mChat is free to download and simply uses your existing internet data plan (3G/EDGE) or Wi-Fi to send messages.
Why does mChat run on Facebook chat?
Over the last few years, people have used lots of different chat programs to talk with their friends online. These days, most people are on Facebook.
Most messenger and chat apps require you to find friends who have downloaded the same app or enter lots of usernames or PINs to find them. We use Facebook chat because you can chat easily to your Facebook friends without worrying about all of that.
What does that tick mark next to my message mean?
When a message is sending, you’ll see a spinning circle. It’ll turn into a tick mark when the message has been sent to the recipient. Note that this doesn’t mean that they’ve read it, just that it’s been sent. If the recipient is offline at the time, they will see the message when they next come online on Facebook or mChat.
Can I send messages to people even if they show as offline?
Yes. The message will be delivered to them the next time they log onto Facebook or mChat.
Can anyone contact me on mChat?
Only your confirmed friends on Facebook can contact you through mChat.

I deleted mChat. Why is my user still online on Facebook?
If you deleted mChat without logging out. Please go to http://www.mchat.com/useradmin and login to delete your mChat user.
This will automatically be done if you don't use mChat for 72 hours.
Why do I get redirected to Facebook when I login at mChat?
Please try using our Alternative login located under the Connect to Facebook button.
Why do I get a white screen when I try to login to mChat?

How do I uninstall mChat?
Before uninstalling mChat it is important that you first Logout by clicking Logout in the mChat menu.
After logging out from mChat. Go to your home screen and uninstall it using Options.
For OS 4.5-4.6 Options > Advanced Options -> Application > mChat
For OS 5.0 Options > Application > mChat
For OS 6.0 Options > Device > Application Management > mChat
I deleted mChat. Why do I still get mChat notifications?
If you deleted the mChat icon without uninstalling it. Go to Opions. Find the module mchat_push under applications and delete it.
Why is mChat Disconnecting when I'm sending it to the background?
When you have mChat in the background it goes to idle mode after 2 minutes.
This is to save battery life on your Blackberry. When in idle, mChat will check for new messages every 10 minutes. You can change both those options under Settings in mChat menu.
I have deleted mChat. How do I reinstall it?
Go to m.mchat.com using the browser in your Blackberry.

Can I update my Facebook status from mChat?
Yes. Tap the “Update Status” button on the bottom menu bar to change your Facebook status.
How do I disconnect from mChat or log off?
You can go offline on mChat by tapping “Go Offline” in the bottom menu bar. You can log back in anytime by tapping “Go Online”.
You can log off from mChat completely by going into “Settings” and logging off. You’ll have to log back in again using Facebook Connect the next time you want to use mChat.
Can I turn off Push Notifications for new messages?
Yes. Go into “Settings” and you can turn off Push Notifications there.
What do the green dots, red dots and clock symbols next to each contact mean?
Green dots mean that the contact is online, red dots that they’re offline, and the clock symbol means that they’re idle, meaning that they’re online but that they haven’t been active on Facebook for at least 15 minutes.
